Special Sessions

The AIBB conference offers special sessions which bring together researchers, practitioners and industry experts to present and discuss their research work, experience and innovations in specific areas or topics around the AI, big data and blockchain. Papers of special sessions will be included in the conference proceedings. The following special sessions are organized as part of the AIBB conference:

Special Session 1: Distributed AI: The convergence of AI, Edge computing and Blockchain
Special Session 2: Generative AI Frontiers: Innovation, Impact, and Responsibility

Special Session 1: Distributed AI: The convergence of AI, Edge computing and Blockchain

This sepcial session is organized by the dAIEdge European Network of Excellence in Edge AI. Please, contact the session Co-Chairs:

Session Details:

The convergence of AI, edge computing and blockchain represents a new era of technological advances, where the immediacy of data processing and the sophistication of AI algorithms leads to new products and services which can benefit from the distributed features of blockchain infrastructure. Industries are increasingly assessing and adopting such distributed edge AI applications to streamline costs, automate complex processes, enhance decision-making capabilities, and refine operational efficiency whilst ensuring trustworthiness and democratic access. These applications are not just theoretical constructs; they are real-world solutions that are reshaping industries. This special session is dedicated to exploring the frontiers of the AI and edge computing deployed on blockchain infrastructure, focusing on the development of scalable, trustworthy and democratic AI systems. It will examine how the blockchain infrastructure can enhance the security and delivery mechanisms of AI on edge systems.

The special session is organized and supported by the dAIEdge European Network of Excellence on AI at the Edge. The topics for the special session are broad (see below) and generally fall into the domain of what can be called ‘Smart Computing’ and ‘Distributed AI’. In order to make the special session more interactive and lively, it will include a demo session. In the latter, participants will be able to show live demos, either on-site or with a video, of their research and results. Participants in any session will be automatically invited to participate in and benefit from dAIEdge’s network of excellence.

There will be a number of activities to demonstrate the new approach. The tentative program includes (at least) one keynote speech, presentations of selected technologies and applications, and a session presenting selected demos from researchers and SMEs. On-site demos will be preferred in the selection.

A panel including representatives from dAIEdge, researchers and SMEs will discuss how these decentralised applications and infrastructure can respond to the current industry needs and priorities and also attract interest from funding organizations and investments from VCs. The special session will seek to spark discussions about directions, insights, and solutions on the topics mentioned above, with a view to ensuring a path of exploitation and sustainability for the technology.

Special Session 2: Generative AI Frontiers: Innovation, Impact, and Responsibility

This special session delves into the transformative potential of Generative AI across various sectors, including education, healthcare, diplomacy, and creative industries. As Generative AI technologies evolve, they present unprecedented opportunities for innovation while posing significant ethical, regulatory, and societal challenges. This session explores these dimensions, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and showcasing cutting-edge research, practical applications, and discussions on responsible deployment of Generative AI solutions. We invite researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and industry leaders to contribute papers, case studies, and presentations that address the following topics.

Topics

  1. Innovations in Generative AI Applications:
    • Advancements in AI for healthcare include integrating medical imaging with electronic health records to enhance diagnostics and treatment planning.
    • Utilisation of Generative AI in education, focusing on personalised learning experiences and ethical considerations in AI-driven teaching tools.
    • Exploration of Generative AI's role in creative industries, including art, music, and literature, and its impact on traditional creative processes.
  2. Ethical and Governance Challenges:
    • Addressing bias, fairness, and accountability in AI-generated content.
    • Developing frameworks for ethical AI integration in various sectors, ensuring transparency and trustworthiness.
    • Discuss global AI governance initiatives and the need for inclusive policy-making, considering diverse perspectives.
  3. Societal and Diplomatic Implications:
    • Examining the influence of Generative AI on diplomacy and international relations, including its potential to reshape diplomatic practices.
    • Assessing the societal impact of AI-driven technologies, particularly concerning job displacement and the future of work.
    • Strategies for public engagement and education to promote AI literacy and responsible usage.
  4. Security, Privacy, and Governance:
    • Strategies for safeguarding sensitive data in LLM applications.
    • Establishing governance models for responsible LLM usage.
    • Addressing challenges in deploying LLMs in regulated industries.
